Artificis Studio
Artificis is a Latin term (from Artifex) which was used to describe those who created with their hands, a term for craftsmen and artists. Artificis Studio is a place where decades of my work and exploration have been given a new lease of life and it is a way for me to share them with Portugal and the world. My hope is to be able to demonstrate through various mediums the incredible depths hidden in everyday life. It is inspired by the incredibly beautiful Portuguese natural world, culture and tradition but viewed through a different lens.

The collections made available in my online shop are a carefully chosen and selected sample of my works. Artwork can be so subjective that it may be that you don't find exactly the piece that fits you personally - if you are interested then please contact me for further samples. I also create bespoke pieces on request.

I grew up near Sesimbra, in a small home nestled in the Portuguese countryside during an evolutionary and difficult time in Portuguese history. The unique natural world in this part of Portugal has always been an inspiration for me and I count myself lucky to be able to draw upon its rich diversity for inspiration.

I studied architecture in Setubal and followed it with a degree in Fine Arts at the University of Lisbon. My works have been displayed at various local, national and international galleries and they have attracted prizes in fine arts and photography in Portugal and beyond.

The essence of my artistic project goes beyond 'form'. Practice is combined with theoretical research into the transcendent and sacred (a deep, spiritual exploration) and Materialism (a reference to the fragility of the human condition and the similarity to the renewing and creative capacity of Mother Earth).
All my work is handmade in my own studio.
